A conformity declaration affixed to a product to indicate that it meets the applicable European Union harmonisation legislation, including, for high-risk AI systems, the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689.
In practiceUnder the EU AI Act, providers of high-risk AI systems must complete a conformity assessment, draw up an EU declaration of conformity, and affix the CE marking before placing the system on the Union market. The mark signals that the technical documentation, risk management system, data governance, logging, human oversight measures, and post-market monitoring obligations have been satisfied. It does not certify accuracy of any individual output; it certifies that the system was built and is operated under a compliant quality regime.
A provider of a CV-screening tool sold to employers in the Union completes the internal control conformity assessment route, prepares technical documentation under Annex IV, signs the declaration of conformity, and affixes the CE marking together with the provider identifier on the system.
